Statement:
“These are interesting times that we live in.” With an ever-changing and sometimes uncertain economic outlook, managing your risk is a key component to capital preservation and income growth. Futures contracts are excellent tools to try to hedge that risk exposure and thus profit from various market scenarios. Whether prices are trending up or down or simply moving sideways, fear not-- for strategies abound.
Industry Background:
I started as a futures broker at Mainstreet Trading in 2000 after working for a leading firm in the oil and gas sector. Between 2002 – 2005, I simultaneously held the position of trade desk manager, where I monitored brokers’ trading activity, and ensured the precise execution of trades for my branch. In addition to my knowledge of derivatives, my educational background includes studies in business management, statistics, cost accounting and contract law.
Market Focus:
Currencies, energies, metals, grains, softs.
Analysis Preference:
I use a combination of technical and fundamental analysis to determine market direction. However, I also see a change occurring where economic data and fundamentals are becoming a bigger factor in market movement.
Technical Study Background:
I study support and resistance lines, bar charts, moving averages, pennants and flags, long-term and short-term trends, retracements.
Advisory Background:
David Dutty, Hightower
Trading Strategies:
I take the time necessary to work with my clients to achieve their desired investment objectives. I use many trading strategies that include call and put spreads, straddles and strangles in an attempt to reduce or clearly define risk and stop-loss protection.
